We will have the exclusive use of a Riad in the Mouassine district of Marrakech and within walking distance to the famous Djemaa El Fna square (0.2 miles). Despite the Riad’s location it is an oasis of calm and peace. A Riad is a traditional Moroccan house, normally with two or more stories around an Andalusian-style courtyard that contains a fountain, or in our case a plunge pool.
Riads were originally built as the stately city homes of the wealthiest citizens such as merchants and courtiers. Riads are inward focused, which allows for privacy. Entrance to these houses encourages reflection because all of the rooms open into the central atrium space, which will be ideal for the reflective nature of our Yoga practices. Rooms within the Riad are air-conditioned, all bedrooms have en-suite facilities, there is free Wi-Fi – I know, NOT at all “traditional”, but nice to haves!
I have called this Yoga holiday “5 nights, 5 senses” as we will focus on one of our senses each day, which I will tailor our Yoga and Meditation practices around, bringing the vibrancy, smells, warmth and colour of Marrakech into those practices. Our morning practice will be a breath led Hatha practice and our evening practice will be breath led, slower paced and more restorative in nature after a day of exploring Marrakech and all it has to offer. All practices are accessible to students from beginners to intermediate level.
Catering will be on a vegetarian basis and is included in the cost of the holiday. Catering will consist of:
· Fresh juice before our morning practice
· Brunch after our morning practice
· Evening meal
We will practice our Yoga in the courtyard within the Riad, which also has a plunge pool, and on one morning I have arranged for us to practice in a beautiful botanical garden in Marrakech prior to it being opened to the public. We can also utilise the Riad’s roof terrace for our meditation practice, and for catching some sun (of course).
Airport transfers can be arranged, as can guided tours of Marrakech, shopping tours, a henna party, a trip to the country – you’ll just have to let me know how active or inactive you’d like to be.
You will need to arrange your own flight travel to Marrakech.
Visa – no Visa is required by UK (EU) passport holders.
Cost (excluding travel and spending money):
Double Room – (2 persons) - per person £590.00
Twin Room – (2 persons) – per person £590.00
