Joyce McMiken & Marcos Rodriguez
From £750/person

Joyce and Marcos will be teaching a morning Mysore practice. Everyone will come together in the afternoon for restorative yoga, prānāyāma, meditation and philosophy.

The venue is set within 97 acres of meadow/woodland in the Languedoc region of southern France. It provides luxurious boutique accommodation, nestled in some of the most spectacular scenery of the south of France. The swimming pool is set into the hillside with a large flagstone terrace and shade-speckled decking. You can walk for miles enjoying the beautiful countryside and wild swimming in the many rivers, meander down to the local market town or simply relax by the pool. Excursion to local market included. Massage will be available at an additional cost. Delicious vegetarian meals will be provided.

Joyce has been practising Ashtanga yoga daily since 2001 and first visited the home of Ashtanga yoga – KPJAYI in Mysore, India - in January 2008. Joyce was authorised to teach Ashtanga Yoga by Sharath Jois in 2014. She holds an accreditation from the British Wheel of Yoga and an advanced R&R Restorative Yoga Teacher from Judith Hanson Laster. Joyce returns to India annually to deepen her own spiritual practice. While the physical aspect of the yoga is important, it is clearly just one piece in the jigsaw. In 2017 Joyce returned to university to study for a MA in the Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and received her MA with distinction in 2018.

Marcos was authorised by KPJAYI to teach Ashtanga Yoga after receiving Sharath’s blessing in 2014. Marcos holds a 500 hours accreditation from Yoga Alliance.
His first contact with Yoga and meditation was in 2003. In 2006 he walked into a Mysore style class and since then has been fully devoted to practising this system. In December 2008 he made his first trip to Mysore, India to study with Sharath Jois at KPJAYI. He continues to make annual trips to KPJAYI to deepen his practice and understanding of the Vinyasa system and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.

TOGETHER they run a daily Mysore class in London - Ashtanga Yoga Covent Garden. Both Joyce and Marcos are soft tissue and remedial massage therapists.
