Together we will explore the diversity of Egyptian culture set between the metropolis of Cairo and the rural Nubian heritage of Southern Egypt, Aswan. We will experience the hustle and bustle of Cairo, visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World before venturing to laid back Aswan, which brings together Nile views, relaxation, ancient ruins, and Nubian culture in a relatively small space compared to other sprawling Egyptian cities.
In addition to exploring one of the most mystical destinations in the world, Chelsea will be leading us through a daily yoga practice as well as her signature Rising Up Stronger & Heart Opening workshops.
You will be picked up from Cairo International Airport on arrival and be transferred to the Cairo Pyramids Hotel where we'll gather around for our opening circle and set our intentions for the week ahead. Then we will be whisked off to Nile Pharaoh, Cairo’s luxurious cruising restaurant, with live entertainment, the balmy Nile breeze, and a view of the twinkling skyline after sunset.
Enjoy a three-course set menu of Egyptian cuisine on the open deck or in the luxurious indoor lounge. Your hearty meal comes with an oriental show of belly dancing and whirling dervishes, a taste of Egyptian culture and a night to remember.
We'll rise early to take in the Ancient pyramids up close and Chelsea will lead us through a morning practice on the pyramid plateau! The rest of the day will be spent taking in the sights of Cairo with a tour of the Egyptian Museum and Citadel of Saladin. In the evening, we will venture to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where the bustling, maze-like corridors offer a unique shopping experience with everything from silverware to spices and handicrafts, followed by dinner in a historic restaurant inside the souk.
After morning yoga and breakfast, we'll take a bus to Cairo International Airport for a morning flight to Aswan. Shortly after check-in at Anakato Ecolodge, we'll enjoy a scenic felucca (sail boat) ride to visit one of the oldest civilizations in Africa. This colorful island in the middle of the Nile is home to many hospitable Nubians, leading simple lives. Learn about their culture, traditions, history as you meet and enjoy a traditional dinner and tea.
We'll journey to a few handpicked highlights of Aswan - visiting the Unfinished Obelisk and the High Dam before boarding a felucca ride to the Philae temple. Enjoy the breeze and the flowing Nile river as you head to the mesmerizing island hosting the sanctuary. Relish in the picturesque views of the temples and monuments and their reflections against the water. After visiting this serene island, we'll head back to our accommodation for dinner.
Lounge and relax by the Nile or (optional tour) choose to visit Luxor for a day trip to see some of Egypt’s most iconic sites such as the Karnak temple and Luxor temple.
Explore Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see just outside of Aswan (full day trip).
