There will be zero expectations of you in this time. The team simply want to provide this retreat as an alternative to New Year events that can sometimes leave us feeling drained – we’ve been there before!

This will be a space and a time that you can rest and restore, no deep ‘work’ just some gentle invitations to return to the body and heart space and leave you nourished and feeling great about yourself ready for the year ahead. The team are devoted to this, pure and simple.

You don’t have to be a yogi to enjoy the retreat but even more experienced yogis will find the space rich with options for nourishment. Your time on retreat includes; morning feel good hatha yoga, one yoga workshop, 5Rhythms, sound bathing, an embodiment workshop and space to rest and restore in the beautiful Scandanavian designed spaces of the glorious 19 acre grounds.

The Quaives is a luxury small estate with 19 acres of grounds with beautifully manicured gardens, with an array of flowers, plants and trees. Within the grounds there is a large pond with fish, frogs and small waterfalls at both ends.

There is also a tennis court and an 8 seater Scandinavian wood-fired outdoor hot tub for relaxing in and enjoying the surrounding nature and night time stargazing, with an outdoor cold shower.

It is without question a divine corner of the world surrounded by sky, tree lines and countryside with lots of beautiful walks, and neighbouring picturesque villages with traditional Kent coast houses and mills.

The estate also has some interesting history; being previously owned by Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac for 25 years. It can be reached via Canterbury West Train Station and then a short cab, by can is about an hour from London.

Bradley Starkey (5 Rhythms)

Bradley has now been dancing the 5Rhythms for almost 20 years. Originally trained as an architect and completing a Phd on the topic of Spirituality and Space in 2009, he trained as a 5Rhythms Teacher in 2014. Bradley fell in love with the practice after attending his first class. He loves the permissive and non-judgemental ethos of 5Rhythms where dancers are given absolute permission to be themselves.

Bradley is a member of the 5Rhythms Teachers Association (5RTA) which means that any classes or workshops that you attend with him count as prerequisite hours for more advanced 5Rhythms workshops or trainings. As well as offering 5Rhythms classes and workshops Bradley also offers counselling and he is registered with the BACP.

Amie Evans (Yin Yoga)

Amie is a Yoga teacher and owner at Union Yoga Margate. Originally an avid Ashtangi and vinyasa practitioner, seeking any practice that made her sweat and work, she found herself turning to yin yoga after an abdominal operation that left her in bed for 6 weeks.

This quiet, soothing, contemplative practice kept her more than just sane, it helped her to learn to listen to her body better, and what her body truly needs in each moment. It without a doubt helped her on her journey of healing and it is now, in some form, a daily practice. Life’s sweet spot is in the balance between hard and soft, of fast and slow, of Yin & Yang.

Jo Miller (Solasta Sounds)

Guiding your experience within the retreat will be Jo who is on hand to answer questions before the retreat and support your landing into the new year.

Jo has built this retreat from the heart space and has invited some of her closest collaborators and friends to hold the event in the same way.

Jo is an Artist, Sound and Somatic Therapist and most of all a human dedicated to providing nurturing spaces for others. She holds a deeply loving and profound space for those who find themselves needing support in transformational times in their life and in equal measure understands that sometimes light and humour are the perfect recipe in themselves for transformation and ‘time out’.

Jo has been dedicated to this path most of her life personally but trained and has been practicing and sharing with others since having a complete change of day to day direction a few years ago. You want to know about transformation then Jo is your go to girl.

Hayley Dunne

A dear friend of Jo’s, Hayley will be co-leading the retreat and in charge of yoga flows and catering (as well as being a Yoga Teacher she is also a kick ass chef at a Margate Vegan Café).

Yoga has been a part of Hayley’s Life for over 10 years and throughout this time she has developed a personal practice that has supported transformation in many areas of her own life.

This personal experience has been her inspiration to teach and share the principles and tools that yoga offers with others, helping us to trust more in our own body intelligence, offering a space for self enquiry and bringing awareness to the beauty within us all.

Hayley completed a 200 hour Yoga teacher training with David Michel (Yoga Alliance Certification) and has attended workshops and studied with Mark Whitwell, a Master Teacher who is passing on the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V Desikachar. The core principles from this lineage have a great influence on Hayley’s own practice, how she teaches to others and her continued studies.
