What are Liforme Yoga Mats made from?

When Liforme was founded, most Yoga mats on the market were made from PVC, a material that’s not only environmentally harmful but also ill-suited for Yoga. PVC mats tend to be slippery, warp under pressure and extremely difficult to biodegrade, often lingering in landfills for centuries. We set out to change that.

Our goal? To create a biodegradable, PVC-free Yoga mat that’s safe for the Planet, safe for your body, and delivers the perfect balance of grip, comfort, and stability. Achieving this wasn’t easy. Over five years, we reimagined Yoga mat design from the ground up, rethinking traditional materials, engineering new ones, and putting them through extensive testing and refinement.

The result is the Liforme Yoga Mat you know today: high-performance, eco-conscious, and purpose-built for your practice.

Specially Engineered Eco-Polyurethane

One of our most technical challenges was striking the perfect balance between excellent durability for Yoga and efficient biodegradability after the end of its use-life.

That’s why the top surface of every Liforme Yoga Mat is made from, a smooth, cushiony layer specially engineered eco-polyurethane material. This ultra-thin layer has an open-cell structure that delivers a uniquely grippy, absorbent, and cushiony feel, ideal for all styles of Yoga.

And when your mat reaches the end of its journey? It’s designed to biodegrade within 1–5 years under normal landfill conditions. Creating no toxic waste, no long-term environmental harm.
