Where are you from/where do you live?

I’m originally from the UK and used to live in London but moved to Surrey three years ago.

How did yoga come into your life?

Yoga came into my life during a really stressful time when I was working as an actuary. I was looking for something to help manage the overwhelm, but it wasn’t until my husband and I were trying for a baby that yoga truly took hold. I started a daily self-practice, and it completely changed my life.

When did you realise you were hooked on yoga?

Through my teens and twenties, I was the stereotypical perfectionist and my resilience to stress was very bad. I fell in love with yoga not just for how it helped me physically but for how it transformed my mindset and gave me tools to handle life’s ups and downs. That daily practice turned into something I couldn’t imagine living without.

Why do you practice?

I practice because it helps me show up as the best version of myself. Whether I need calm, energy, strength, or grounding, yoga always meets me where I am. It’s also where I find creativity. Many of the sequences in The Yoga Happy Year were born on my mat through playful exploration.

Why do you teach?

I teach because, as cliche as it sounds, yoga changed my life and has saved me in some of my darkest times and I want to share that gift with others. Helping people connect with their bodies and minds, discover their strength, and find balance in their lives is such a privilege. Teaching also gives me a beautiful way to connect with a community, whether it’s through live classes, my Yoga Happy app or our teacher training school, Alba Yoga Academy.

Tell us about your yoga community.

My yoga community is incredibly special to me—it’s a space filled with kindness, support and inspiration. Whether it’s the amazing future teachers in the Alba Yoga Academy YTT, my wonderful students within the Yoga Happy app or people I meet through event or my books. I’m constantly amazed by the strength and openness of the people I connect with. What I love most is how diverse and inclusive the community is—people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds coming together to grow and support one another. It’s a beautiful reminder of how yoga is so much more than the poses; it’s about connection and shared experience.

What’s your favourite yoga pose? Why?

It’s hard to pick, but right now it’s Downward Facing Dog. Whenever I’m in it, it’s like coming home—it’s a pose that feels grounding and familiar, no matter where I am in my practice. It’s like a bell of mindfulness, connecting me to my breath and body in a really profound way.

What’s your motto?

"Don’t sweat the small stuff” has been my motto for so many years now. It’s a simple but powerful reminder to keep perspective and focus on what really matters, both on and off the mat.

What are you reading?

I LOVE reading and adore getting lost in a book. Right now, I have just started A Court of Thorns and Roses because so many people recommended it.

You’ve decided to cash in your frequent flier miles. Where are you heading?

The Maldives. It’s where my husband proposed, so it’s full of happy memories for me. The peaceful beauty of the clear ocean and soft sandy beaches make it the perfect place to recharge and reconnect.

At the airport, you realize you’ve forgotten the most crucial thing. What is it?

Either my kids or my matcha tea—both are absolutely essential! One keeps me grounded, the other keeps me energized. :)

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a musician and played the flute, piano and drums to a high standard. I changed my mind because, although I adored music, I hated the competitive aspect of it; it ruined the fun for me.

What’s your favourite Liforme Mat?

This is a tough question, but I think it’s between the Mindful Garden and Cosmic Moon. Both never fail to make me smile when I roll them out.

Aside from yoga, what do you love to do?

I love spending time in nature with my family and dogs - surrounded by green is my happy place.
