Liformers are a bunch of dedicated, joyful go-getters who inspire us daily
with their creativity, honesty, and love of yoga. Our "Meet the Liformer"
series gives you the chance to get to know them a little better, find out how
they practice, and catch their enthusiasm.

Fuelled by a fascination with anatomy and a desire to ask "why", Adam specialises in a signature style of Alignment-Based Vinyasa inspired by decades of study of anatomy, mediation, yoga and mobility.

He’s taught classes, workshops, and trainings at over 60 studios in over 20 countries, along with countless conferences and events. You can find him chatting on the Honestly Unbalanced podcast, consulting for studios and brands, co-leading one of Europe’s largest teacher trainings, writing for the likes of Yoga Journal, on Instagram @adamhusler, and trying to be an awesome dad.

Where are you from and where do you live?

After growing up in the land of the Peaky Blinders (Birmingham), I moved down to London to chase opportunities that really don’t exist anywhere else. About five years ago, my wife Holly, a sound healer and musician, and I escaped to the Surrey countryside, where we now raise our two boys in a slightly wonky 18th-century cottage

How did yoga come into your life?

It started at university when I was boxing every day and realised I should probably start stretching before I broke something. I couldn’t find a stretching book in the library, but I did find one on yoga. A few years later, back in Birmingham, I thought formal yoga classes might be a good way to move my body and meet some chill new people. The rest, as they say, is history.

When did you realise you were hooked on yoga?

At first, it was just about flexibility. Then it became the thing I did to make sense of life. I’d show up early for class, devour books on Stoic and yogic philosophy, and suddenly yoga wasn’t just movement, it was therapy, strength training, meditation, and self-study all in one. Before long, every other form of movement slowly fell away, and yoga became my sole anchor for a few years.

    Why do you practice?

My main “why” is to connect with myself, and through that, something a little bigger than myself.
The side benefits? Mobility, focus, better moods, and a calmer way of meeting whatever chaos the day throws at me.

    Why do you teach?

When I first started teaching, I was working in the charity sector and becoming increasingly disenchanted. Over time, I realised I could make a deeper impact helping my students — CEOs, parents, teachers, whoever — live and lead with a bit more awareness and empathy. That’s still a big driver, but these days, I also love helping teachers find clarity, confidence, and direction in their own path.

Tell us about your yoga community

After a decade of teaching across 20-plus countries, my community’s spread far and wide. I try to keep everyone connected and learning through the Honestly Unbalanced podcast, teacher trainings, retreats, and my new project, Centred States — a platform for curious, grounded humans who want to go deeper.

    What’s your favourite yoga pose?

    Halfway lift.
Honestly, the most underrated pose in yoga. Engage your back, micro-bend the knees, stay centred in the feet, and rotate the arms out. Done well, it’s the perfect antidote to modern life.

    What’s your motto?

    Curious mind. Grounded feet.

    What are you reading?

Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More than They Expect by Will Guidara

    What’s in your smoothie?

Chocolate protein powder, blueberries, flaxseed, chia, cacao nibs, peanut butter, banana… and always pea milk.

You’ve decided to cash in your frequent flier miles. Where are you heading?

Honestly? I’d probably cash them in for something practical and stay home. Free time’s too rare; I’d rather wander through the woods with my family than sit in another airport.

At the airport, you realise you’ve forgotten the most crucial thing. What is it?

Warm clothes. Always. I once landed in Vienna in November wearing just a T-shirt and optimism. It didn’t go well.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

    As a kid — a robot.
    As a teenager — a lawyer.
Now — still figuring it out.

    What’s your favourite Liforme Mat?

We’ve just redecorated the Centred States studio in warm terracotta limewash, so the Terracotta Liforme fits perfectly — earthy, grounding, and quietly strong.

Aside from yoga, what do you love to do?

Photography. When I actually manage to carve out some proper downtime, you’ll probably find me behind a camera. You can see some of my work at @adamhusler.photo.

    Ask yourself one question.

What top 3 words would you want students to associate with your teaching?

    Now answer it.

    Technical. Safe. Non-dogmatic.
