Liformers are a bunch of dedicated, joyful go-getters who inspire us daily with their creativity, honesty, and love of yoga. Our "Meet the Liformer" series gives you the chance to get to know them a little better, find out how they practice, and catch their enthusiasm.

Carlotta Castangia is an Italian yoga teacher living in Bali. Trained as a dancer, she recently opened C-Studio Bali to encourage movement and community.

Where are you from/where do you live?

I am from Rome but, for the last 15 years, I've been living under the colourful skies, in the beautiful nature of Bali, Indonesia.

How did yoga come into your life?

I was a dancer for a very long time, but when my body experienced issues , I had to find my way elsewhere.. I discovered yoga in 1999 when I was dancing and living in Miami, and found my essence in India, where I embraced all aspects of Yoga.

    Why do you practice?

It makes me feel present when  things around me are not  easy. And it’s taught me that showing up every day is where the transformation is – it’s not only in the big moments, it’s built in the small, consistent ones. The magic is not in perfection. The magic is in showing up, again and again.

    Why do you teach?

I love seeing the changes that yoga brings to my students. How it helps us all remember who we are, and reminds us that, in this fast-paced world, there is another way. A way that doesn’t require rushing, proving, or achieving. A way to be present.

Tell us about your yoga community.

My yoga community is special. Consistent – and growing –  since I arrived in Bali. We unite to move, breathe, connect, deepen, and create together.

    What’s your favourite yoga pose?

Dancer Pose. Probably because it’s called  Dancer. 😍

    What’s your motto?

“Not here to perform. Here to transform.”

     What are you reading?

Actually, nothing… but I am watching the Michael Jackson movie!

     What’s in your smoothie?

Here in Bali, I love Waterberry, which is a mix of watermelon and strawberry.

You’ve decided to cash in your frequent flier miles. Where are you heading?

     Tahiti dreams!

At the airport, you realize you’ve forgotten the most crucial thing. What is it?

100% my yoga mat! And the tripod.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A dancer or a teacher. I always wanted to do something related to health and fitness, even way back then

Why are Liforme Yoga mats your favourite?

Liforme Yoga mats support my practice without distracting from it.

The grip gives me the confidence to move freely, whether I’m flowing, balancing, or holding challenging poses. I don’t have to think about slipping – I can focus on my breath, my movement, and the experience.

I also love the alignment markers. They act as a quiet guide, helping me find awareness and precision without overthinking.

But more than anything, a yoga mat is where I return to myself every day. It’s where I teach, learn, grow, and reconnect. My Liforme mat has been there through countless practices, classes, workshops, and moments of reflection.

For me, it’s more than just a mat – it’s a trusted companion on the journey.

Aside from yoga, what do you love to do?

    Pilates and beach days, forever.

    Ask yourself one question.

    What’s next?

    Now answer it.

I have no idea. Sometimes it scares me, especially now that I have opened my yoga studio, and the number of new teachers and studios that open up every day is insane. So I have decided to trust my journey, and all will be fine.
